The Big Day!

And the day went off without a hitch!  So many wonderful friends and family made this day super special!

Dinner gown

Ha! I finally finished this red gown I had started in 2003 and never got around to completing. It looks stunning on so I am really happy I finally completed it!  The silk is the same as the bridesmaid dresses, full length with a back split. The idea is to wear it to the dinner on the night before the wedding. But don't worry if you think I've spoiled the surprise, you will forget you saw this.... and it does not look half as good on the mannequin as it does on me!

Last one nearly done!

Lucky last, I had my sister come and try this one on as she has a slightly different proportion to the dummy. I am really pleased with how they are looking!
After this I can finish the Mother of the Bride's dress!

Two down! Finishing off the hem tonight but I have completed the second dress. I am pretty happy with them although the shiny fabric really shows up creases and other flaws! Am sure they will look great on!

One down two more to go!

I found I had to take in the dress heaps as the darts in the stock pattern did not fit right, but my mannequin is adjusted to bridesmaid number 1's measurements and I was able to take it in a lot. I'm trying the dress with one of the necklaces I've made for them to wear on the big day!

At last!  I am on the way to having the bridesmaids dresses done! Not as challenging as the bridal gown as I've elected to use a pattern, it's a cute retro 60's Butterick frock.
Everything is cut and prepped for a massive sewing session tomorrow!
